Efectividad del entrenamiento de la musculatura del Core en la prevención de lesiones de hombro en deportes con lanzamientos sobre la cabeza: una revisión sistemática

2020
Background: The training programs for the prevention of shoulder injuries in athletes who throw over the head through strengthening the upper body present clear evidence of their benefits. On the other hand, the Core musculature training programs that make up the entire lumbo-pelvic belt may also be involved in the prevention of shoulder injuries in athletes who throw overhead. However, the evidence is limited. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of Core musculature training in the prevention of shoulder injuries in athletes who throw over the head. Methodology: A systematic review of the literature regarding the available evidence on shoulder injury prevention strategies in sports using overhead throws through Core musculature training was performed, consulting the PubMed databases, PEDro and ScienceDirect published between January 2014 to May 2020. Result: A total of five studies could be selected of which two are clinical trials and three systematic reviews. All of the studies talk about shoulder injury prevention in handball, baseball, and volleyball. Of which it could be revealed that training programs for strengthening the upper body muscles and Core decrease the risk of shoulder injury in athletes who throw overhead. Conclusion: It was possible to show that the Core musculature training programs decrease the risk of suffering an injury in athletes who throw over the head.
