Effect of ducks infected with heterologous Newcastle disease virus on tissue free radicals metabolisms

2008
One hundred and twenty 20-day-old healthy ducks were divided randomly into 4 groups(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ)and subcutaneously injected with 0.5 mL sodium chloride,SPF embryo solution(diluted by 1∶5) of Newcastle disease virus separated from chicken, goose and duck, respectively.Ducks were raised and observed in housing with 25℃.Seven ducks in every group were slaughtered 4,8,12,16 d post-infection.The heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney were sampled and grinded into 10% homogenate.Superoxide dismutase (SOD),catalase (CAT),malondialdehyde (MDA),glutathione superoxidase (GSH-Px) were measured to study the effect on tissue free radicals metabolisms of ducks infected with heterologous Newcastle disease virus. The results showed that the content of SOD,CAT,MDA,GSH-Px in duck tissues changed with the heterologous Newcastle disease virus infecfion. There were obvious difference of the content of SOD,CAT,MDA,GSH-Px in duck tissues infected with Newcastle disease virus from goose,Newcastle disease virus from duck, but no significantly difference of the content of SOD,CAT,MDA,GSH-Px in duck tissues infected with Newcastle disease virus from chicken. These results suggest that free radicals may participat in the pathogenetie course of ducks infected with heterologous Newcastle disease virus.
