A Follow-up Study of Isolate Tear of Anterior Cruciate Ligament

This study reports on the disability of 33 patients with chronic laxity of anterior cruciate ligament treated conservatively. All patients were evaluated at average of 3.2 years after injury. There was high incidence of functional disability and secondary meniscal tears in athletically active individuals. But 22 patients (85%) had no disability for overall routine activities of daily living.So we concluded from this follow-up study that athletically active individuals who are unwilling to modify sports participations need operative treatment but other patients can be treated satisfactorily without operative procedure.
