A Study of the Reaction between CH3 and NO at High Temperatures

1990
The reaction between CH3 and NO was investigated behind incident shock waves at temperatures between 1470 K and 2040 K. Using an Ar-ion-laser pumped cw ring dye laser hydroxyl radicals were found to be a primary product of this reaction. The rate constant for the OH forming channel can be expressed by At temperatures around 2000 K the contribution of the “OH channel” to the total rate constant of the reaction CH3 + NO is about 40%.
