Real-world scenes captured through posterior capsule opacification specimens: simulation of visual function deterioration experienced by PCO patients.

Acinetobacter are generally encapsulated nonmotile aerobic gram-negative oxidase-negative organisms. Acinetobacter baumannii is a frequent cause of outbreaks of infection and an endemic health care–associated pathogen due to its ability to survive under a wide range of environmental conditions and to persist on surfaces for extended periods of time. Antimicrobial resistance greatly limits the therapeutic options for patients who are infectedwith this organism. There are few reports of postoperative endophthalmitis caused by Acinetobacter species. We are not aware of any reports of A baumannii as a cause of acute postoperative endophthalmitis following phacoemulsification and could find no reference to it in a computer-based Pubmed search. The present case highlights the association of A baumannii with acute postoperative endophthalmitis after uneventful phacoemulsification with IOL implantation. In this case, good microbiological evaluation including drug sensitivity and timely performed vitrectomy with appropriate medication resulted in complete recovery.
