Introducing a problem to solve

Not all children will be confident enough to use a problem-solving approach automatically in their play. Some may never have seen problem-solving in action and giving them open-ended challenges may be counter productive. Finding realistic problems that can be solved by young children in satisfying ways is not an easy task.
