Plasma bile acids reference value in the gyr falcon (Falco rusticolus)

Blood samples were collected from 67 clinically normal gyr falcons (Falco rusticolus) to determine plasma bile acids reference value for this species. Bile acid concentrations were measured using the Trinity Biotech Bile Acids test kit (Trinity Biotech, USA) for quantitative, enzymatic determination of bile acids using an automatic wet chemistry analyzer (Miura 500, Sistemi Intelligenti Elettronici, ISE, S.r.1., Rome, Italy). The results demonstrated a mean value of 35.40 ± 14.06 μmol/L (mean ± standard deviation) with a range of 5.41–68.0 μmol/L.
