GENETIC VARIABILITY AND CORRELATION STUDY AMONG QUALITY CHARACTERS IN SCENTED RICE

2003
Two hundred scented rice varieties including one non scented check Ratna were evaluated to know the genetic variabilities and correlation among different quality characters. The genetic parameters were moderate to high for all the characters studied. The hulling and milling percentage had significant positive correlation with headrice recovery percentage. Water uptake and elongation ratio had significant positive correlation with alkali spreading value and significant negative correlation with amylose content. The alkali spreading value showed significant negative correlation with amylose content.
