Effects of feeding dried brewers’ grains to slow-growing broiler chickens

2021
Abstract Slow-growing broiler chickens as the strain Label Rouge are breeds that require more time for reaching the market weight, and may have meat characteristics appreciated by the consumers. Two studies were conducted to evaluate the inclusion of dried brewers’ grains (DBG) in the diet of slow-growing broiler chickens. In the first experiment (metabolism assay), a total of 180 male Label Rouge broiler chickens were assigned to a completely randomized design, with 5 treatments (inclusion rates of 0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 g DBG/kg of diet) and 6 replications (cages, experimental unit) and 6 broiler chickens per cage, in the period from d 14 to 24. The objective was to evaluate the energetic values of increasing DBG inclusion rates, and obtain the regression equations. Energetic values increased linearly (P
