Analgesic nephropathy complicated by transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis.

1987
Following a report by Hultengren et al. (1965), it has been suggested that phenacetin abuse predisposes to urothelial neoplasia. Any part of the urothelium may be affected, but most striking is the high incidence of renal pelvic neoplasia, with over 100 recorded cases in the literature. The first fully documented case from Great Britain is now reported.
