Commercial requirements of MHD

Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is one of the emerging electric power generation technologies. Coal-fired MHD is projected to be very efficient, and tests have proven substantial reductions in environmental emissions without the need for NO{sub x} emission control devices or for SO{sub 2} scrubbers. These are characteristics which could satisfy many electric utility industry requirements.
