A Multi-attributes Optimization Model and in Traffic Control Optimization

2014
The measures of effectiveness (MOEs) which to evaluate the performance of traffic control strategy are from different point of views, for instance, the decrease of delay can save time, the decrease of stops can save in vehicle’s wear and tear, the decrease of the fuel con-sumption can save fuel, and the decrease of emissions can protect the environment against pollution. But to the best of my knowledge, not all MOEs are in correlation relationship. So the problem to evaluate the strategies which takes into consideration multi MoEs is discussed in this paper. And since the evaluation criterion could also be the control objective which can determine the optimization result, the issue is also the multi-objective optimization problem. This paper addresses the issue by a new multi-attributes optimization model, Co-sine&Distance Model, which considers two dimensions: the direction and the length. The di-rection’s quality is reflected by the cosine value between individual one and ideal one, the length’s quality is reflected by the ratio of lengths of individual one and ideal one. A simulat-ed case shows the best control plan selected by the proposed model performs well.
