Study of the catalytic properties of pentasil-containing composites in reactions of transformation of hydrocarbons. 2. Transformations of propane and ethane on Zn-modified pentasils

1989
1. Pentasils containing 0.5–1% Zn are the most efficient catalysts of aromatization of lower alkanes; an increase in the amount of Zn in HTsVM to 5% activates methane formation to a significant degree. 2. Aromatization of propane on Zn-containing pentasils is accompanied by evolution of the catalysts: an increase in the aromatizing activity of the Zn/HTsVM system during the reaction due to a change in the state of Zn as a result of the zinc-support interaction and under the effect of the reaction medium. 3. IR spectroscopy showed that in modification of pentasils with Zn2+, the strong BrΦnsted acid sites gradually disappear, and new strong Lewis sites are formed and cause activation of lower alkanes due to electron-acceptor properties.
