IN SITU METAL SPECIATION USING A NEW TECHNIQUE

2007
To perform in situ metal speciation measurements, a relatively new technique was used consisting of a double layer probe: the first layer is a polymer gel backed by a second gel layer including an ion exchange resin. However, such a system has not yet been studied nor widely applied in Vietnam. Therefore, we started a modest research program on metal scavenging with this technique and our preliminary results will be presented here. The performance capability of the gels was tested on both synthetic and natural water samples. The technique was also applied for the determination of labile metal concentrations at some specific sampling stations in Hanoi rivers and in industrial waste waters.
