Antibiogram of pathogens from nasal affections in equine

2019
Nasal samples from ailing horses showing nasal symptoms of bilateral gloomy nasal discharge, anorexia and depression were screened for identification of bacterial pathogens followed by antibiotic sensitivity test. The Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli were reported as predominant bacteria associated with affections as identified by Gram’s staining followed by MALDI-TOF MS. The antibiogram showed highest susceptibility to Gentamicin followed by Ceftriaxone/ Tazobactum and Ciprofloxacin and resistance to Streptomycin, Penicillin, Oxytetracycline and Ampicilin/Cloxacillin. The isolates showed intermediate susceptibility to Amoxycilin/Sulbactum, Enrofloxacin and Chloramphenicol.
