A Case Study on Application for Software Reliability Model to Improve Reliability of the Weapon System

2011
The embedded system, a combination of hardware and software such as the weapon system has increased the complexity of software in order to embody the customers' various demands, and the importance of software is increasing as most mission-critical functions are carried out by software. In order to improve the reliability of software in the weapon system, the software reliability should be estimated and improved first. However, the current software system in the weapon system is being developed without the reliable-level definition or the process for reliability assurance. This thesis describes application of the software reliability model of the target system to increase the software reliability, and presents some analytical methods as well as the prediction & estimation results. Also, this thesis presents some improvements for increasing the software reliability in the weapon system. We expect that our work can be a good standard for other software reliability prediction & estimation in the weapon system, and will be best utilized for setting goals for software reliability in the weapon system after the analytical results are sufficiently gathered.
