Synthesis and characterization of N-butyl-N′-(p-sodium p-benzenesulfonate) thiourea

Under the condition of solid-liquid phase transfer catalysis using PEG-200 as the catalyst,the intermediate n-butyl isothiocyanate was synthesized by the reaction of n-bromobutane and ammonium thiocyanate.The intermediate that was not separated from the mixture could react with p-sodium p-aminobenzenesulfonate immediately to form N-butyl-N′-(p-sodium p-benzenesulfonate) thiourea in high yield.
