Alcesti in rete

This paper presents a three-year project called ALCESTI IN RETE funded by the Department of Civil Protection in Italy’s Marche Region with the cooperation of the Regional School Authority. The project created a network of 14 schools engaged in an educational intervention concerning risk prevention and mitigation. In the first year, the teachers participated in a blended course dedicated to the design of a learning environment for their students. In the second year, the students carried out learning activities using this environment. The third year was devoted to dissemination of project outcomes. The article describes the project’s context, aims, contents and methodological approach. It examines teacher training based on virtual learning communities, and also students’ collaborative role play activities. Finally, project evaluation conducted by an external evaluator is described. The overall results of the experience are very positive, despite the emergence of a few obstacles - a common occurrence in innovative projects.
