DEVELOPMENT OF VICS ON-VEHICLE EQUIPMENT

This paper gives an overview of the Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS) which offers real-time traffic information in three formats: FM broadcasting, radio beacons, and infrared beacons. The article also discusses specifications for the in-vehicle equipment plus the route guidance capabilities of VICS.
