nnnnn Information Systems Planning has become more closely linked with the Strategic Planning processes of organisations over time. This is due to the recognition that IS may be able to provide strategic benefits. As IS strategic plan is developed from such a linkage. nnnnn Several stages of refinement are used in the planning process to ensure that appropriate strategic information systems are identifies, selected and implemented.nnnnn This report surveys methods and concepts that have been developed to facilitate the planning process. Means of formally assessing the risk of expected benefits not being achieved are introduced and developed as an emerging trend.
