Growth of CaTiSiO5 by the Czochralski method

1969
Abstract Crystals of CaTiSiO 5 suitable for physical property measurements have been grown by the Czochralski method. Best results were obtained with relatively high rotation rates (100–150 rpm) and a linear growth rate of 0.15 cm/hr. The crystals are monoclinic with space group P2 1 / n , the symmetry previously observed for anhydrous synthetic CaTiSiO 5 , as compared with space group C2/ c reported for natural sphene (titanite) minerals of general formula CaTiSiO 4 (O, OH, F).
