Anal Dysplasia: Controversies in Management

There are several controversies in the management of anal dysplasia due to uncertainty of its natural history and of its relationship to anal cancer. Different screening recommendations can be found in the literature; however, not all are of proven benefit and safety. Here we review the recent incidence of anal cancer, present the scope of the problem, and offer a safe and effective screening program to manage anal dysplasia, which may potentially counter the rising incidence of anal cancer.
