It is a battery cell, in particular a lithium-ion battery cell proposed, in which a winding element, two current collectors and the electrolyte in a housing (11) are received. The housing consists of a container (13) and a cover assembly, wherein the cover assembly includes inter alia a cover plate (23) connected to the container (13) is firmly connected after the introduction of internal components of the battery cell. According to the invention the cover plate (23) is bonded to an inner surface (37) of the container (13), for example, along a projection (29) by using a layer of adhesive (31). An example of an O-ring (41) formed sealing bead (33) prevents a sealing assembly (32), that in the housing (11) gets inserted electrolyte in contact with the adhesive (31) and those chemically attack.
