Generalized Yield Strength Criteria for Bar Structures

The plastic calculation of bar structures is based on a transformation of the three-dimensional continuum into a one-dimensional continuum which obeys generalized yield criterion. A new method to obtain this criterion is presented here. This method gives limit loads for the one-dimensional continuum, which are upper bounds of the limits loads for the three-dimensional continuum.
