Portals and Diagnostic Elbow Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy of the elbow continues to evolve allowing a thorough evaluation of the joint in its entirety and affords procedures to be carried out in a less invasive manner. Advances in technology and equipment have made arthroscopy an effective and safe method for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide array of elbow pathology. Creation of safe and precise portals with a thorough understanding of the location of the neurovascular structures is paramount. This chapter focuses on the ability to safely carry out the diagnostic assessment of the elbow in a safe and reproducible manner. A further understanding of how to identify and address the more common ailments is also discussed.
