suppression. In the ocular region, Kaposi’s sarcoma, lymphoma, and other malignancies occur in immunosuppressed patients. Most children with uveal melanoma have no systemic disease and only rarely have predisposing conditions such as dysplastic nevus syndrome or ocular melanocytosis.4 Our patient had neither of these conditions. Studies have detected expression of immunosuppressive factors in uveal melanoma cell lines, but the details of these reports are beyond the scope of this short report.7 The relationship between uveal melanoma and immune suppression is unclear, and it could represent a random coincidence. Clinicians should be cognizant that uveal melanoma can develop in a patient with MCD, especially in the setting of concurrent immunosuppression.
