Oxidative heterocyclization of 6-bromo-2,4-di-tert-butylphenol

A study of the oxidation of 6-bromo-2,4-di-tert-butylphenol by manganese triacetate in neutral and acid media indicated a two-step method for the synthesis of 1-hydroxy-2,4,6,8-tetra-tert-butyldibenzofuran.
