Design of monitoring and scheduling system for a large-scale reverse osmosis desalination plant

2013
An effective mean to realize operational optimization of a large-scale reverse osmosis desalination plant is to build a real-time monitoring and scheduling system. Running on the analysis of the system process, an open distributed control system (DCS) was established based on OPC (OLE for Process Control) data access mechanism. User's application programs access the data through the standard OPC interface. It greatly enhances the control system interoperability, scalability, and compatibility. An optimization scheduling model was built to minimize plant's cost under the premise of meeting the water consumption demand. The simulation results show that the operational optimization of plant units highly improves the efficiency of equipments, reduces the cost. By this way, the enterprise achieves energy conservation and enhances the market competitiveness.
