Belonging to the technical field of polymer composite materials, the invention in particular relates to a low-odor modified polypropylene composite material and a preparation method thereof. The composite material comprises: 35-87 parts of polypropylene; 3-5 parts of water absorbent resin; 0-40 parts of inorganic mineral powder; 10-20 parts of a toughening agent; 0.3-1.0 part of a processing aid; 0.2-0.8 part of heat stabilizer masterbatch; and 4-6 parts of ozone water. The invention introduces ozone water, and at high temperature, ozone can oxidize low molecular aldehyde, ketone, amine, benzene and other low molecular activity odor matters, and can improve the odor of the polypropylene composite material and decrease the VOC content. According to the invention, an ozone water solution is introduced, at high temperature the water solution is vaporized to produce a lot of water vapor, and a supercritical state can be formed under a melt pressure, thus further extracting low molecules in the polypropylene composite material, improving the odor of the polypropylene composite material, and decreasing the VOC content.
