Ladle slag depth measurement

The Indiana Harbor Works of LTV Steel Corporation installed a slag depth measuring system that provides immediate and accurate feedback to the melter so that optimal slag carry-over may be achieved. This, in turn, permits the melter to provide a quality heat to the reheat furnaces and degasser, thus, improving several areas ofproduction and quality, as well as customer satisfaction.
