2014
Introduction. These preliminary results derive from the PAPIIT IN 3044414-3 project: “Factors Related to the Safety and Quality of Attention in the hospitalized patients. Multicentre Study in Mexico”. Objective: To describe the Adverse Events (AE) and to identify factors associated with their occurrence in the inside of a hospital with a third level attention in Mexico City, using the SYREC 2007 instrument modi ed and adapted to the context of hospitalized patients. Material and Methods. Descriptive, nonexperimental, retrospective and cross-sectional study, using the records of the AE that have occurred in hospitalized patients from January to December 2013. The analysis was performed through descriptive statistics by a SPSS processor. Results. 14 patient records with an AE report were reviewed. 71.4 % happened in female population. In 29 % the event occurred in the rst 24 hours; in 71.4% of EA the patients were alert. 92.9 % occurred in the unit where the patient was being treated. Care related events predominate with a 28.6 % of the cases. In 71.3 % of the cases, factors were associated with characteristics of the nursing personnel, among them number and training. Conclusions / Implications: These results correspond to the pilot study. It is important to mention that this is the rst study that explores the facts linked to the adverse event. Results are expected to contribute in the design strategies focused on prevention, report, review and analysis of AE in the Mexican hospital network.
