David Ian Stirk

The son of a doctor, David Ian Stirk was educated at Blundell’s School from 1930 to 1934. He then became a medical student at St Mary’s Paddington, qualifying as a surgeon in the early days of the second world war. He served for five years in the Royal Army Medical Corps, spending three of those years in India. On leaving the army, he worked in London and then went to Singapore to take up an appointment as a general surgeon.
