Primary Vitrectomy in Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment

Primary vitrectomy is replacing scleral buckling as the treatment of choice in the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. In this chapter, steps of performing vitrectomy for treatment of retinal detachment have been covered in detail. Technique of making the sclerotomies, core vitrectomy, PVD induction, peripheral vitrectomy, fluid air exchange, and tamponades have all been covered in detail.
