Preparation of the 4-ethylamino sugar of calicheamicin: assignment of absolute configuration

Abstract The absolute configuration of the 4-ethylamino sugar of calicheamicin is established to be 3S,4S by comparison with material obtained from asymmetric synthesis from L-serine.
