Granuloma inguinal. Descripción de un caso

2000
Inguinal granuloma or donovanosis is a granulomatous infection caused by calymmatobacterium granulomatis, considered as a classical sexually transmitted disease. It is a typical for tropical and subtropical regions but uncommon in our country. It's scarcely contagious process which becomes chronic showing vegetant elements on genital and/ or perigenital areas, with no regional adenitis. The aetiological agent can be seen with dermatopathological study, proving Donovan bodies by means of Giemsa or Wharthin-Starry stains. The case of inguinal granuloma that justifies this report was developed by a Caucasian man who had a sexual relation with a woman from Dutch Antilles. Many antibiotic treatments were made until the cure, although it was necessary surgery treatment to resolve the remaining fibrosis and lymphedema.
