Pharmaceutical Care for One Case of Pan-Drug Resistant Acinetobacter Baumannii Pulmonary Infection

OBJECTIVE:To explore the mode for clinical pharmacists to provide pharmaceutical care.METHODS: Clinical pharmacists took part in the formulation of therapeutic regimen for 1 case of pan-drug resistant acinetobacter baumannii pulmonary infection.RESULTS: The clinical pharmacists specialized in anti-infective therapy took advantage of their expertise to come up with anti-infective therapy with imipenem/ cilastatin sodium plus doxycycline to treat pan-drug resistant acinetobacter baumannii pulmonary infection and suggest withdrawal of the suspected drug doxycycline in the presence of allergic reaction so as to achieve rational use of drugs.CONCLUSION: Clinical pharmacists' involvement in the formulation of therapeutic regimen and monitoring on adverse drug reactions can ensure patients' safe and effective medication.
