Les barrières institutionnelles à la formalisation des unités de production informelles dans les principales agglomérations des états membres de l'UEMOA

This articles offers an analysis of institutional barriers that prevent the creation of Informal Units of Production (IUP) in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire), Bamako (Mali), Niamey (Niger), Dakar (Senegal) and Lome (Togo). Using the data collected in these towns between 2001 and 2003, this study describes and explains how IUP can register their activities with local administration. It also suggests ways to improve the collection of these data to improve a better knowledge of what IUP need.
