Theory of carrier injection into a polymer chain: Polaronic effects

2002
We consider electron injection from a metallic contact into the conduction band of a polymer chain as affected by thermal fluctuations in the polymer. We show that direct injection into the polaronic configuration produced by fluctuations is more probable than injection into the polymer conduction band. This effect corresponds to lowering of the injection barrier.
