What Makes University Students Happy: A Study of Terror Affected Area

2 Abstract: Terrorism has affected almost every part of the world. Likewise Pakistan is one of the countries that have also been afflicted by terrorism. Besides every day's life; education sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province of Pakistan, has also been deteriorated. The study conducted a survey of Kohat University of Science and Technology, which is situated in the terror affected area. A total number of 300 hundred students, from three faculties of the university: social sciences, biological sciences and physical sciences, comprised the sample of the study. The respondents were asked to record their impressions on different factors, which affected their happiness and life-satisfaction in university life. The data were analyzed with the help of ordinal logistic regression model. The data revealed that proper academic environment, teachers' behaviour, good grades, teaching-learning technologies and physical facilities motivated the students to study and they felt happy in university life. The data further elicited that students were satisfied with the teaching facilities and were inclined towards education that means through education the effects of terrorism could be mitigated and that could produce positive effects on the psychology of the populace.
