Structural, transport and magnetic behavior in Sr2Ir1-XVXO4 (x = 0.0 and 0.025)
2020
Sr2IrO4 material has significant spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect which induces an exotic insulating behavior with antiferromagnetic ground state. The Ir adopts a charge state of Ir4+ (5d5) which gives a realization of Jeff = 1/2 state. Further, layer structure in this material shows anisotropic magnetic interaction. In present study, we have substituted V4+ (3d1) in Sr2Ir1-xVxO4 (x = 0.0 and 0.025). Considering that V4+ will tune both SOC and electron correlation effect, a significant modification in magnetic and electronic behavior is expected. We observe that crystal structure is not significantly modified with present doping. However, we notice that magnetic state in terms of magnetic moment and electronic properties are largely modified.
