Innovative Winding Method for Electric Motors suitable for High Production Volumes of EVs

Continuous power density of electric motors is mainly limited by the heat generated in the winding. To enhance the performance of electric machines, a new winding with a higher thermal conductivity and a higher filling factor is tested and compared to the conventional pull-in winding. The benefits in terms of performance increase, production processes, and manufacturing costs of the new winding type are investigated.
