Hybrid concentric annular cylindrical dielectric resonators antenna for improved X-band and Ku-band applications

Here an Ultra wide band hybrid concentric three layered Annular Cylindrical Dielectric Resonators (HCAC-DRA) along with a monopole antenna has been designed and developed which is excited by a coaxial probe. This proposed antenna has a frequency range of 7.67 to 16.52 GHz, which is used in VSAT uplink and down link purpose. This range of frequency is used for direct broadcast satellite services. By the use of probe feeding, the TM 01δ mode is achieved. Here the impedance bandwidth is found to be 73.17%, which is 17% more as compared to an earlier version of similar cylindrical DRA. The radiation efficiency of the proposed antenna is more than 98% and gain obtained here is 6.37 dB. The proposed antenna has a good radiation pattern which is very much suitable for satellite services.
