Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare: The Effects of COVID-19 on Nigerians

The purpose of this study is to determine the psychological and social impact of artificial intelligence and COVID-19 on Nigerians A descriptive design was adopted for the study and four hundred and twenty-two Nigerians participated in the study A self-administered questionnaire was used to obtain information on relevant issues and the gathered information was presented on frequency-percentage tables and charts while the hypotheses were tested using chi-square at 5% level of statistical error Results from the study show that majority of the respondents 214 (50 7%) were not highly impacted on psychologically by Coronavirus and Artificial Intelligence while 208 (49 3%) were highly impacted on by artificial intelligence and Coronavirus with a mean score of 21 5 ± 1 9 Majority of the respondents 232 (55 0%) were less impacted on socially by Coronavirus and artificial intelligence while 190 (45 0%) were highly impacted on by Coronavirus and artificial intelligence with a mean score of 18 6 ± 2 3 The study discovered that majority of the respondents were not highly impacted psychologically by Coronavirus and Artificial Intelligence, majority of the respondents were less impacted socially by Coronavirus and artificial intelligence The study revealed that there was a significant impact on the psychological welfare of Nigerians Moreover, there was a significant impact on the social welfare of Nigerians More studies should be carried out to identify the level of adoption of artificial intelligence in the management of pandemic in Nigeria © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG
