Steroid Hormone Metabolism in Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia

1962
ABSTRACT. The pattern of steroid hormone metabolites was examined in a group of patients with chronic lymphatic leukemia. Both men and women produced more tetrahydrocortisol than tetrahydrocortisone. The men showed a lower than normal production of metabolites of hydrocortisone2; the women had an approximately normal amount of these products. Both sexes showed a relatively low level of androsterone and etiocholanolone. The findings are not considered specific for the disease but, rather, indicate the direction for further study.
