The importance of green mobility

Abstract Transport has been a major industry in past decades and its development has allowed the world to be connected. From simple day-to-day commuting to international passenger and freight transport, humanity's horizons have widened and globalization has developed. Although people and goods have always traveled, there was a factor that allowed the acceleration of this trend: the discovery of the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the consequent use of liquid oil to power it. Technology has evolved on both sides, allowing batteries to store more energy, but also allowing ICEs to operate more efficiently and producing the alternative of more sustainable fuels. This chapter will provide an overview of available technology currently and developments that are expected to take place in coming years.
