Resistibility of structural nano-synthetic fibre-reinforced cementitious composites in various chemical and physical environments

2017
Abstract The resistibility of nano-synthetic fibre-reinforced cementitious composites (NSFCs) was evaluated for a fibre loading of 0.26% of the total volume. The accelerated degradation environment was classified into two categories: the physical degradation environment relating to the resistance to repeated freezing/thawing and abrasion, and the chemical environment comprising immersion in CaCl 2 and Na 2 SO 4 solutions. The compressive and flexural strengths of the NSFC were measured after immersing in each chemical solution for up to 50 days; the NSFC displayed excellent resistance to repeated freezing–thawing and abrasion. The behaviours toward the immersion solution and immersion time were different. However, the NSFC retained its strength under the chemical degradation environment.
