Quantitative evaluation of carotid elasticity in type 2 diabetic patients by ET technique

2007
Objective To detect the carotid elasticity quantitatively in type 2 diabetic (DM)patients by E-tracking (ET) technique. Methods The stiffness parameter (β), pressure-strain elasticity modulus (Eρ), arterial compliance (AC), argumentation index (AI) and one-point pulse wave velocity (PWVβ) of carotid in 26 cases DM patients and 150 cases health adults were calculated automatically by ET technique. Among 26 DM patients,11 cases had complication and 15 cases hadn't. The parameters of DM patients and health adults were analyzed using SAS 6.12 statistic software. Results Compared with the health adult, AI was different in DM patients without complication, while all of β, Eρ, AI and PWVβ were different in those DM patients with complication. Conclusion The data was only decreased with AI in DM patients without complication, while decreased with all of β, Eρ, AI and PWVβ in those DM patients withcomplication. This difference can be detected by ET technique.
