"Abusive Supervision, Organizational Tenure and Knowledge Sharing"
2014
Drawing on insights from Social Exchange Theory (SET) (Blau, 1964) and Conservation of Resource (COR) Theory (Hobfoll, 1989), this research examines the negative consequence of abusive supervision on knowledge sharing. Further, this research investigates the moderating role of organizational tenure between abusive supervision and knowledge sharing. Across two independent studies conducted in South Korea, we found evidence that there was a negative relationship between abusive supervision and knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the aforementioned relationship was strengthened for those with longer organizational tenure. By addressing the important issues, this research contributes to knowledge sharing, organizational tenure and abusive supervision literatures. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.
