Structure for installing a battery pack

2011
In battery power tools, an identification protrusion was conventionally provided on a battery installation unit to prevent the installation of non-compatible batteries that do not conform to specifications such as rated voltage of the tool body. Conventionally, this identification protrusion was made of synthetic resin, which resulted in the problem of said identification protrusion having low resistance to impact during interference with the battery pack. In the disclosed structure for installing a battery pack, said identification protrusion has an improved durability. An identification protrusion (17) is made from a higher-strength metal plate, a material different from the synthetic resin of the terminal block (14) on which said identification protrusion (17) is provided. Because the identification protrusion (17) is made of metal, the impact resistance thereof is increased to a level higher than that of conventional synthetic resin-made identification protrusions, and by this means the identification protrusion (17) can be thinner, allowing adaptation to more specifications.
