Structure and low‐temperature phase of LaCoO3

The structure of LaCoO3 is investigated using transmission electron microscopy. Single phase of LaCoO3 at stoichiometric composition is obtained by sintering above a temperature of 1273 K for 86.4 ks. The crystal structure of LaCoO3 is tetragonal with lattice parameters of a = 0.384 and c = 1.181 nm, of which c is three 3 times longer than a. Striations are observed in this structure. These striations are easily annihilated by electron beam irradiation. Die Struktur von LaCoO3 wird mittels Transmissionselektronenmikroskopie untersucht. Eine einzelne Phase von LaCoO3 bei stochiometrischer Zusammensetzung wird durch Sintern oberhalb einer Temperatur von 1273 K fur 86,4 ks erhalten. Die Kristallstruktur von LaCoO3 ist tetragonal mit Gitterparametern von a = 0,384 und c = 1,181 nm, wobei c dreimal groser als a ist. In dieser Struktur werden streifenformige Defekte beobachtet. Diese Defekte lassen sich mittels Elektronenbestrahlung leicht ausheilen.
